ARCADIA

Created in my Manhattan studio

I painted this body of work as an escape from the grays of New York City, where I lived during and ever since my undergraduate days at Parsons School of Design. Having grown up on Candlewood Lake, CT, in a house in the woods, I craved the colors and softer shapes of nature. It was therefore only natural that I began painting these bucolic scenes. Most of them contain a garden lane, so the viewer feels the pull back into the paintings and back into nature itself. These real and imaginary painted places offer the viewer the peace, quiet and simplicity that are missing in today's world. While painting these pieces I was brought back to the time when I explored the physical world with my hands, rather than my paint brushes.
